Detailed Course Content

Soil properties; principle of effective stress; Theory of seepage; One-dimensional consolidation theory; shear strength of soils; laboratory tests to determene shearh strength and soil deformability; choice of geotechnical parameters; Plastic equilibrium of soil; Rankine theory of active and passive earth pressure; Coulomb theory; retaining walls; bearing capacity of shallow and deep foundations; Slope stability
