Basic aim of the course is to provide fundamentals, methods and procedures for the hydraulic protection of watersheds. The course consists of active lectures and exercises.

CHARACTERISTICS OF WATERSHEDS AND STREAMS
Geometrical representation of watersheds. Strecher diagram. Hypsographic curve. Hydrodynamic diagram. Stream representation fundamentals. Planimetries, longitudinal profiles, cross-sections. Level-flow relationship, Chronological curve, Duration curve. Utilization curve.
HYDRAULICS
Uniform flow. Composite roughness. Channels of compound section. Gradually varied flow. Hydraulic jump and stilling basins. Energy dissipation structures, steps. Free flow over a step. Sediment transport. Erosion down to steps. Backwater determined by bridge piers. Channel bed erosion due to piers.
