Learning Objectives

1) Evaluation of the stiffness matrix of simple structures;
2) Design and verification of reinforced concrete and steel sections using limit state resistance domains;
3) Behavior of partitions walls in the presence of earthquake and their contribution in simple buildings

Detailed Course Content

The course aims to transfer to students the knowledge necessary for the design and verification, according to current regulations, of reinforced concrete and steel beams as components of complex structures. Design and verification for simple and compound stresses (traction, compression, bending moment, shear and torsion) are designed to the serviseability and ultimate limit states. The course also proposes to transfer to the students theoretical concepts on the behavior of isolated wall subject to horizontal actions and their behavior within simple buildings in the seismic area.
