TELERILEVAMENTO E GIS
Academic Year 2026/2027 - Teacher: MICHELE MANGIAMELIExpected Learning Outcomes
The course aims to provide students with the necessary basic knowledge of spatial data management, the use of GIS technology, and satellite data interpretation techniques (multispectral, hyperspectral, and radar). The skills acquired will be used to monitor the territory and produce thematic cartography, including using spatial data classification algorithms. A significant portion of the course is dedicated to practical exercises using primarily free and open-source platforms. Furthermore, the course provides methodologies to improve education, and human and institutional capacity regarding climate change mitigation, adaptation, impact reduction, and early warning. It also promotes innovative geomatics technologies to increase the capacity for effective climate change planning and management, in accordance with Goals 4 and 13 of the 2030 Agenda.

Learning Assessment
Learning Assessment Procedures
Ongoing evaluations in written form (not mandatory). Oral exam for all ordinary and extraordinary sessions.
The evaluation of the exam will be based on the following elements: relevance of the answers to the questions asked, quality of the contents, ability to connect with other topics covered by the program, ability to formulate examples, ownership of technical language and overall expressive ability of the student. The practical knowledge acquired during the course in the exercises is an integral part of the assessment.
