Management of safety in construction sites and Lab

Academic Year 2025/2026 - Teacher: Santi Maria CASCONE

Expected Learning Outcomes

The course aims to prepare for the design and management of safety in temporary and mobile construction sites with particular regard to the training content provided for by Legislative Decree 81/08. Frontal training will be provided which, starting from the indications provided by EU directives, will lead to the development of skills in the activities of safety coordinator on construction sites. An exercise will be developed with the detailed processing of all the documentation pertaining to the safety coordinator in the design and execution phase.

Course Structure

At the end of the course, there will be an oral exam and a review of the project exercise completed during the course.

Required Prerequisites

There aren't prerequisities.

Attendance of Lessons

The student is required to attend at least 80% of the lessons of the course.

RELEVANCE OF TEACHING WITH THE OBJECTIVES OF THE 2030 AGENDA: The creation of building, structural and infrastructural products is in an era of strong development; the proliferation of numerous construction sites across the country, from north to south, shows the nation's desire to promote long-lasting, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, which aims to guarantee full employment and decent work for all. The teaching in question aims in particular to prepare future engineers for the world of employment and work, which often, at the end of a course of study, is foreign and alienating for those approaching it for the first time.

It is therefore believed that the teaching "SAFETY MANAGEMENT ON CONSTRUCTION SITE AND LABORATORY" is relevant to what is reported in objective no. 8 of the 2030 Agenda: the main sub-objectives are the increase in productivity and the creation of dignified and safe jobs in all sectors, with particular reference to the construction sector, in contrast with forced labor and the of modern "slavery", which must be eradicated by 2030.

However, sustainable economic growth cannot occur at the expense of the environment. We therefore require, starting from small construction sites and the way they are conducted while respecting the safety of workers and the environment, the improvement of efficiency in the use of resources in consumption and production and pursues the decoupling of economic growth from environmental degradation.
