Learning Objectives

Providing theoretical and practical knowledge to design and manage the water treatment and reclamation plants.

Lectures. Open discussion on the content of the lectures. Classroom exercises on sizing of reactors for water treatment with the aid of IT tools.


Detailed Course Content

Wastewater treatment plants and water reclamation plants. Treatment trains. Preliminary and primary treatments. Secondary biological treatments. Innovative treatment systems (MBR, MBBR, etc.). Alternative disinfection technologies. Removal of emerging contaminants (xenobiotics, endocrine disrupting compounds, etc.) Water reuse and sustainabiity. Sludge treatment and disposal. Control of processes. Design of wastewater treatment plants and water reclamation plants.
