Learning Objectives

  • Structural analysis and design of steel and R.C. structures

    Modelling of steel structures and R.C. strctures. Analysis of statically determined and statically undetermined sructural schemes. Limit state verification of cross-sections and members of steel and R.C. structures.


Detailed Course Content

  • Structural analysis and design of steel and R.C. structures

    Limit state verifications. Steel models in elastic and inelastic range of behaviour. Ultimate limit states of steel members: tension, compression, bending moment, bending and axial force, shear, bending and shear, torsion. Serviceability limit states of steel members. Models for steel and concrete of R.C. members. Ultimate limit states of R.C. members: tension, compression, bending moment, bending and axial force, shear, torsion. Serviceability limit state of R.C. members: stresses, cracking control, deflection control.

  • Design of Reinforced Concrete and Steel Structures

    Introduction to the project

    regulatory framework and notation. Setting up a project. Discussion of the structural building layout and general design considerations. Examination of a design theme chosen by students and already played in previous courses in architecture. Analysis and study of any changes or simplifications aimed at making structurally executive design theme. Choice of structural elements to be verified. Shares Analysis: snow and wind. static schemes and partial construction of the envelope diagrams of the internal forces.

    2. proportioning and verification of STRUCTURAL STEEL

    Pre-design and verification to Member Limit ceilings, simple and composite beams, columns, and foundation elements. Design and verification of connections: bolted joints and welded joints. global instability and partial audits. Calculation of braces.

    3. proportioning and verification OF STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS IN CONCRETE

    Predimensioning and verification to Limit States of floor slabs, edge beams and plug in thickness and outside thickness, inner and outer pillars, the nuclei of the brace, lintels, foundation elements. Redistribution of horizontal forces. Any stability analysis
