Expected Learning Outcomes

Knowledge of usual engineering techniques for the construction of civil engineering works.

Design of detail through the use of traditional and innovative materials.

Focus on the techniques of graphic representation of architectural projects.

Drafting of the design exercise using BIM methodology.

Course Structure

Lectures and exercises.

Weekly review of exercise projects.

Didactic seminars, including those with engineering and architecture professionals.

Required Prerequisites

Graphic representation techniques of architectural elements.

Attendance of Lessons

3 hours per week during the first semester.

2 hours per week during the second semester.

Detailed Course Content

EXERCISES: students in working groups, consisting of a maximum of 2 components, will be assigned the elaboration of an architectural project of residential building on a lot.  The exercises will be carried out with the BIM (Building Information Modeling) methodology.

REQUIRED REQUIREMENTS: project plan (scale 1: 500), plants at various levels (scale 1: 100), prospects and sections (scale 1: 100), foundation plan (scale 1: 100), carpentry (scale 1: 100), horizontal and vertical construction sections (scale 1:10), details (scale 1: 5), etc

Learning Assessment

Learning Assessment Procedures

At the end of the course an evaluation exam of the design exercises is foreseen. During the oral exam all the project documents produced by the candidates will be examined and they will be asked to justify and argue the technical choices adopted in order to evaluate the skills acquired.

Examples of frequently asked questions and / or exercises

Illustrate the procedural process for drafting the project.

Define the scale of representation appropriate for the preparation of a specific project.

Working in BIM: component schedules, layout of graphic tables, 3D modeling and rendering.
