
Filippo Fazzino
Ph.D., graduated cum laude in Environmental Engineering at the 'Mediterranea' University of Reggio Calabria (Italy) in 2016. In 2018, he received a research scholarship from the 'Mediterranea' University of Reggio Calabria (Italy) for studies on the biorefinery of agro-industrial residues. In 2021, he earned a Ph.D. in Civil, Environmental and Safety Engineering at the University of Messina (Italy), defending a thesis on a novel integrated treatment for mature landfill leachate. In 2022, he held a Post-Doc position at the 'Mediterranea' University of Reggio Calabria (Italy) and taught a course on biorefinery applications for organic waste valorization at the same University. From 2023, he is a fixed-term Assistant Professor of Sanitary and Environmental Engineering in the Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture of the University of Catania (Italy) conducting his research and teaching on the sustainable management of waste and wastewater.
His main research interests include biorefinery, anaerobic digestion, landfill leachate treatment, waste and wastewater management, removal and monitoring of contaminants of emerging concern in (waste)water, thermal remediation of contaminated soils. He has authored/co-authored several papers published in international journals.
