MISURE MECCANICHE E TERMICHE
Academic Year 2019/2020 - 1° Year - Curriculum Advanced Mechanical design, Curriculum Energy and Enviroment and Curriculum Mechatronics and ManifacturingCredit Value: 6
Scientific field: ING-IND/12 - Mechanical and thermal measurements
Taught classes: 28 hours
Exercise: 30 hours
Term / Semester: 2°
Learning Objectives
The course aims to provide the basic measurement knowledge and an accurate analysis of the transducers. Both static and dynamic analysis of the measurement setup performance is carried out. The main types of transducers are analyzed in detail with the discussion of the metrological parameters. The student engineer will be instructed on the most significant measuring devices and the detection methods of the main mechanical and thermal quantities. The course also includes practical exercises either in the classroom or in the laboratory with examples of the use of sensors and data analysis.
Course Structure
First part of the course includes an introduction to metrology and the analysis of measurement errors. Then, the main electronic terminal instruments to be used in mechanical and thermal measurements are analyzed. The last part of the course deals with the measurements of the main quantities. During the course, classroom exercises and laboratory tests will be carried out.
Detailed Course Content
Logical foundations of the measuring operations. Quantity and measurement concepts. Units of measurement systems. Measurement systems theory. Statistical analysis for a posteriori evaluation of uncertainties. Static and dynamic performance of the instruments. Analog circuits and instruments. Measurement of the main mechanical and thermal quantities.
