News PhD Program of National Interest Defense against natural risks and ecological transition of the built environment

l’ISPRA-Istituto Superiore per la Protezione e la Ricerca Ambientale, attraverso il Dipartimento per il Monitoraggio e la Tutela dell’Ambiente e per la Conservazione della Biodiversità, organizza un evento, che si svolgerà a Taormina nei giorni 1 e 2 ottobre, avente come titolo “SD-WISHEES SEMINAR ON BEST PRACTICES: Innovative solutions and best practices to protect cultural and environmental heritage assets from increasing frequent hydroclimatic extreme events”.
L’evento mira a offrire un’occasione di condivisione e scambio di buone pratiche nel contesto del Water-Climate-Cultural Heritage Nexus, che contribuiscano a una gestione sostenibile, collaborativa e inclusiva del patrimonio culturale e ambientale minacciato da eventi estremi idro-climatici.
Nel dettaglio, nella giornata del 1 ottobre è previsto un workshop rivolto a un pubblico nazionale, dal titolo: “Soluzioni innovative e buone pratiche nel contesto del WATER-CLIMATE-CULTURAL HERITAGE NEXUS: Giornata di studio a supporto del monitoraggio e della previsione idro-meteo-marina e degli eventi estremi idroclimatici e del loro impatto su ambiente e patrimonio culturale nel contesto del cambiamento climatico”.
La seconda giornata, rivolta a una platea internazionale, sarà dedicata alla presentazione, alla discussione e alla finalizzazione delle migliori pratiche individuate nell’ambito del progetto SD-WISHEES, con l’obiettivo di contribuire allo sviluppo delle attività di ricerca e innovazione nel settore del Water-Climate-Cultural Heritage Nexus.

ISPRA – tIstituto Superiore per la Protezione e la Ricerca Ambientale – through its Department for Environmental Monitoring, Protection and Biodiversity Conservation, is organising an event to be held in Taormina on 1 and 2 October, entitled “SD-WISHEES SEMINAR ON BEST PRACTICES: Innovative solutions and best practices to protect cultural and environmental heritage assets from increasingly frequent hydro-climatic extreme events”.
The event aims to provide an opportunity to share and exchange best practices within the context of the Water-Climate-Cultural Heritage Nexus, contributing to the sustainable, collaborative and inclusive management of cultural and environmental heritage threatened by extreme hydro-climatic events.
Specifically, on 1 October, a workshop aimed at a national audience will take place, entitled: “Innovative solutions and best practices within the context of the WATER-CLIMATE-CULTURAL HERITAGE NEXUS: A study day to support hydro-meteorological and marine monitoring and forecasting, as well as the monitoring and forecasting of extreme hydro-climatic events and their impact on the environment and cultural heritage in the context of climate change”.
The second day, aimed at an international audience, will be devoted to the presentation, discussion and finalisation of the best practices identified as part of the SD-WISHEES project, with the aim of contributing to the development of research and innovation activities in the Water-Climate-Cultural Heritage Nexus sector.

Il gruppo Dot.AT.i - Dottorandi e Dottori di Ricerca Architettura Tecnica - ha lanciato la terza edizione della Giornata di Studi 'Conoscere e Connettere. Saperi in sinergia per la ricerca' che si terrà a Bologna il 28 gennaio 2027. La Giornata di Studi è organizzata come un momento di incontro e scambio accademico tra Dottorandi, Dottori di ricerca, Giovani Ricercatori, Contrattisti, Assegnisti e Borsisti che si occupano di discipline afferenti al Gruppo Scientifico Disciplinare 08/CEAR-08. The Dot.AT.i group – PhD students and research fellows in Technical Architecture – has launched the third edition of the Study Day ‘Understanding and Connecting: Synergising Knowledge for Research’, to be held in Bologna on 28 January 2027.The Study Day is organised as an opportunity for doctoral students, PhD graduates, early-career researchers, contract staff, research fellows and scholarship holders working in disciplines falling under Scientific Disciplinary Group 08/CEAR-08 to meet and engage in academic exchange. “Generazione Ricerca – UNICT PhD Open Session”

Promotional activities for the 25 PhD programmes in the 42nd cycle.
The initiative focuses on the presentation of the call for applications for the new cycle, PhD research projects, interdisciplinary networks, international opportunities and collaborations with industry and research organisations.
The event aims to highlight the PhD programme as a forum for advanced training, innovation and professional development, but also as a strategic lever for strengthening dialogue between the University, the local community, institutions and businesses. The initiative also aims to support the career guidance of young talents and to raise the profile of research’s contribution to the economic, social and cultural development of the local area.
From 4.00 pm, visitors will be able to explore the exhibition and workshop area dedicated to the University’s PhD students’ projects, organised around the three ERC thematic areas: Physical Sciences and Engineering, Life Sciences, and Social Sciences and Humanities. Through talks, informative materials and practical demonstrations, the PhD students will share their experiences of theoretical training and experimental work, international mobility and collaboration with public bodies, businesses, research centres and healthcare organisations, in line with the objectives of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan and the Europe 2027 Agenda.

The thesis defence of doctoral students of the 38th cycle admitted to the final examination on 25 June 2026 will take place at University of Catania, Aula Magna Polo Tecnologico, via Santa Sofia 102, according to the following schedule, starting at 8:30

The thesis defence of doctoral students of the 38th cycle admitted to the final examination will take place at University of Catania on 14 and 15 January 2025, according to a schedule yet to be determined, starting at 9:00.
Each candidate will have 30 minutes to present the results of their research in English, using slides also produced in English.
The award ceremony will take place in the presence of the Rector or his delegate on 16 January 2026.
The composition of the commission will be announced shortly.
